​Professor Stefaan Voet is an Associate Professor at the University of Leuven and a host professor at the University of Hasselt. Before that he was an Assistant Professor at Ghent University. Stefaan teaches national, European and international civil procedure. His main research interests are complex litigation, ADR, ODR, dispute resolution design and litigation costs. He has written numerous national and international articles on these topics. Stefaan is also a Programme Associate at the CMS/Swiss Re Research Programme on Civil Justice Systems at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Oxford and a prominent member of the Class Actions Exchange Network spearheaded by leading scholars from Stanford, Oxford and Tilburg. Stefaan’s Ph.D. thesis about complex litigation in Belgium formed the basis for a government proposal to introduce a consumer class action. He was also a member of different governmental working groups on class actions and mass disasters. Stefaan has spoken at various national, European and international conferences. He was a visiting scholar at the Law Center of the University of Houston (2009) and Stanford Law School (2014). He was a visiting lecturer at the Law Center of the University of Houston, SMU Dedman School of Law, College of Law of the University of Tennessee, Syracuse University College of Law and Peking Law School. Stefaan is also a freelance opera critic.​
